Fulham Begin Powerfully to Beat Spurs and Increase Tension on the Manager
Tottenham Hotspur fans who booed goalkeeper Vicario were informed afterwards "those individuals can't be real Tottenham supporters" by boss Frank.
Spurs let in two goals in the opening initial moments to lose 2-1 to their opponents, registering their tenth top-flight at home loss of the year.
But the primary topic of discussion was the visitors' next score when Vicario gave away the ball well outside his area.
The goalkeeper ventured out to deal with a high pass and carried the ball towards the touchline.
However, rather than booting it out of play, the Italian spun and tried to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was controlled by King.
The forward laid the ball off to Wales midfield player Harry Wilson, who bent a shot into the net from the touchline recorded at thirty-six point six metres.
Seconds later when the ball came to the keeper again, some Tottenham fans booed him.
The team were jeered off at half-time, with the side 2-0 behind, and again at the final whistle.
A particular of those booing episodes truly angered the manager.
"I heard a few of our fans reportedly booed the incident and booed following, which, in my view is totally unacceptable," the Danish manager stated regarding the supporters' response to his shot-stopper.
"Those individuals cannot be real Tottenham fans that do that. Fair enough booing after the game, no problem, but when we are in play, we are backing one another, we are behind one another going forward."
Tete had given Fulham a early advantage prior to Harry Wilson's goal β with Kudus scoring for Spurs in an improved second period performance.
Ex- top-flight keeper Joe Hart remarked that the second score was "totally avoidable".
"I do appreciate the fans' disappointment," Hart continued. "I am aware the part the keeper is playing. He is a great team player, he's a true leader in the locker room but in the end you are going to be judged by your decisions.
"The keeper was heavily involved in what turned out to be the winning score."
Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Keeper Vicario Following the Game
Italian international Vicario is in his 3rd season with Tottenham.
He said after the match that he had to take the criticism.
"The second score was a mistake of mine, I accept accountability for it," he said.
"My aim was to clear the ball far and I just struck the ball in a bad manner. It was an even bigger mountain to overcome."
He said receiving jeers "comes with football".
"I am mature, how can I respond?" he added. "We can't be influenced by the circumstances in the crowd. The fans have the right to do what they think.
"It's on us to remain increasingly calm, to concentrate on our own performance. The team is lacking in calmness and poise to reverse outcomes. Today is a bad loss and it's hard to accept."
Despite the keeper's mistake, it was far from an simple score for Wilson to convert.
In fact it was the next longest-range top division score of the campaign β following Tyler Adams' 43.3 yard goal for Bournemouth against Sunderland, which interestingly too occurred on Saturday.
Wilson said he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an empty goal to target.
10 seconds elapsed between Vicario exiting of his box and Wilson shooting β which was 5 moments following the kick.
"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was away from the area for a long time," he remarked.
"It amazed me none of the back four returned to the goal line. When not one of them covered the goal, my interest lit up a bit.
"Udogie slipped too, which gave me a little additional time. After that it was all about trying to achieve the correct connection and place it on target. I felt a good feeling, as soon as it left my boot, that it was on the right line."
Jeering While We Are Still Playing Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank
Although Vicario's error led coverage, this was an all-round bad performance for Tottenham to continue their home struggles.
The match was their 10th home loss of 2025 in the league, a joint club record along with 1994 and 2003.
The side still have home games against Frank's former club the Bees and title holders the Reds to play before the close of the year.
Only one of those wins have occurred since Frank took over from Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.
"If you are behind 2-0 following six minutes, there is a mountain to overcome," said the boss.
"During in a bad spell, everything appears to work against you too β the first was a redirected shot, the second is a error from the keeper.
"This result puts us in a place where we have lost another game. Every game has a unique story, this game we were defeated in the early stages.
"We simply need to keep working. The later period was significantly improved and with luck an aspect we can use to learn."
Tottenham have been defeated in 4 consecutive at home London derbies for the initial time in the top division.
And they are recording nine point five attempts and 3.2 efforts on goal per match in the division β their lowest rates on record in a one season (dating back to 2003-04).
Former Cottagers midfielder Murphy commented that Frank has to endure the criticism.
"He must accept the criticism," Murphy said. "He has taken a high profile job at a huge football club with massive anticipation. There is pressure and duty that comes with that.
"Their showings at home have been poor and they have to improve {quickly|
