Trevoh Chalobah Poised to Take Over from Marc Guehi in Three Lions Squad

Chelsea defender in action

The Chelsea star emulated his brother Nathaniel in representing England, becoming the 21st duo of brothers to play for the national team.

The Chelsea defender is expected to be added to the Three Lions selection to replace injured Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old footballer is scheduled to link up with the team for England's remaining World Cup qualifying matches against Albania and Serbia, although it has yet to be confirmed.

The Three Lions have already booked their place for the upcoming competition.

Chalobah received his initial invitation under England head coach Thomas Tuchel in the month of May and then made his debut against the Senegalese team.

In the month of September, Tuchel remarked Chalobah was unlucky to be omitted from the selection for qualifying games against Andorra and Serbia, and also omitted him for the subsequent October international break.

Tuchel has been an important presence in Chalobah's development, having handed him his Chelsea first-team bow in 2021.

Chalobah has played in all but four games for Chelsea this season, with the side third in the Premier League, in the EFL Cup quarter-finals and in the league phase of the European competition.

Guehi suffered a foot injury in Crystal Palace's Europa Conference League success over the Dutch side last week.

There are expected to be other additions to the squad. Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe has confirmed that both winger Anthony Gordon (hip) and goalkeeper Nick Pope (concussion symptoms) are set to pull out from the squad.
